A Facelift and a few updates

by naspinski 6/11/2008 6:46:00 AM

As you can obviously tell, the site got a facelift.   I hope the new look makes it a bit easier on the eyes and possibly even more functional?  I am no designer, but I think it looks better.

I also  killed a couple dead links like the one to the image host.  It is now another link to yet another fast and simple image host with no signing up involved - I hate signing up for crap.

I am going to be making the description box easier to format as it really can't be formatted now.  That is a huge oversite I basically forgot while deploying this whole website.  It should make for some more interesting and easy to read ads.  As always, please contact me if you have any questions or suggestions.

Cheers,

Stan

New Blog is up!

by naspinski 1/25/2008 12:21:00 AM

I have been wanting to do this for a while, just took a little bit to bet it moving.  I put this blog up as a way to get more information to the users as well as maybe getting some more and better input as well using the comment system (no login required).  This also brings about a much improved RSS feed for all of the users that are interested.

So hopefully this can prove useful to some of you out there.

Just as an FYI, this blog framework is BlogEngine.Net and it is an awesome blogging engine!  Can't say enough good thigns about it - easily customizable, and easy to deploy.

Couple new features

by naspinski 1/19/2008 7:06:00 AM
Made a new feature that can associate your 'id' with the ads you make - just type your auctionconstructor.com id (whatever you want it to be) in the blank at the top of the screen and click 'retrieve ads'

Also, added some AJAX to deal with the style and color choosers as I was always unhappy with how they worked before.

A huge bug fix, and some AJAX

by naspinski 1/5/2008 7:02:00 AM

Happy New Years and and Update...

I actually fixed the viewstate error I was getting... it took me months to figure this out, you can view my solution on my development site.

Also added some AJAX to to the contruction and contact pages so they don't require full page refreshes... hopefully speeds up the site a bit.

Lot of Updates

by naspinski 8/31/2007 6:58:00 AM
Alrighty, did some major updates... most of which will not be visible to you.

  • Moved entire database over to its new home - lost everything in the process, but site is running fine.
  • VIUX installed AJAX, and I have it built, just not sure I like how it works... maybe I will allow some beta testing if anyone wants?

A few changes for SEO, most of which will not alter the view or usage of the site whatsoever, but hopefully I can get some more traffic. For a lot of the problems I fixed on the site, I have to truly thank http://www.websitegrader.com for their great free services!

  • Added an RSS Feed feed so those who would like to be notified of changes and developments can find out without visiting the site constantly
  • Extended the lease of the domain until 2010 - this site will be around for a while!
  • Fixed the lack of <h1> and <h2> tags for better web crawling by search engines
  • Optimized meta keywords
  • Made a 301 redirect - all traffic that goes to http://www.auctionconstructor.com will automatically go to simply http://auctionconstructor.com

Return to Ad bug fixed

by naspinski 8/20/2007 6:56:00 AM
The link to return to your ads now works - did not realize that it was broken. Now it is as simple as returning to the url to continue to edit, or re-use your ad you have already made.

New Build

by naspinski 6/25/2007 6:48:00 AM

Ok, here is my entire new build. This is what was done:

  • Converted to ASP.Net 2.0 - much more powerful and capable language than ColdFusion
  • Completely revamped the database structure, Legacy AC.com uses Legacy Database, new AC.com uses new Database.
  • Limited color choices to 5 'color schemes' (more to come) to help eliminate some of the horrid color schemes some people were coming up with... I can't have an unreadable pink on yellow showing up with my name on it! This isn't MySpace :)
  • Allowed for 2 different styles of ad.
  • Added a quick contact page - no need to pull up your email client any more.
  • Completed a new FAQ to answer any questions that I recieved.
  • Added Build log... as you are looking at it now!

AuctionConstructor.com

by naspinski 3/7/2007 8:33:00 AM

The site you have been looking for is here!

Professional auction ads made for free with absolutely no catch!

Easy to Use

All you need is your items to sell, a picture or two and a couple minutes.  Just fill out the simple 'construct' form, hit submit and you have a great ad to use on eBay or similar auction website.  No templates to mess with, no code to edit, just a few few blanks to fill in and your fully styled html and css ad is ready to go.

Use it to sell your items anywhere

You can also easily use an AuctionConstructor ad to sell things in other mediums such as classified ads or forums, they are quite versatile.

And if you specify an AuctionConstructor ID, you can come back any time and review and reuse your ads - absolutely NO registration required - in fact, I will never ask for your email address or name (unless you are trying to contact me).

I hope AC.com helps you out!
